I’m on teh newspapers!
Posted by tsubaki | Filed under Personal

Hi people, this is perhaps the only reason why I can explain why Anime Desho Desho is dead. I’ve been grinding and levelling up in the real_world.exe as a Level 20 Kid under the apprenticeship of the famous Lvl 99 Director Eric Khoo, and this newspaper article is my report card of my labour. Tjhan has nicely announced this on RIUVA together with some artist bashing shit and I figured out it’s better to the actual article to everyone else out there who’s interested to read about it.
May I present, my real e-penis:

Yes I know, I look damn retarded and ugly here. The photographer, took like a million over pictures of me, decided to use this. He told me to do some hand gestures while I talk to an imaginary person, and this came out. I swear the next time someone tells me that, I’ll just look straight at the camera and not do anything.

At the moment, the only anime that I still religiously follow is Code Geass R2. Don’t think the community needs another CG reviewer, so I’m not writing anything about it. Also, I’m seriously considering to pull the plug on ADD and maybe join another animeblog or something as a guest writer, but ah wells. I dunno.

Evangelion 0.1: You Are (Not) Alone
Posted by tsubaki | Filed under Movie, Anime

I know this blog is as dusty and dead as hell, but if you’re still reading, here’s finally a post. I watched Evangelion 0.1 today and was mighty blown away. Now before I start talking about the film, let me talk about the crowd there. For a Monday 7.15pm show, the theater was rather packed. I occupied the best seats (B8) so I didn’t have to worry about people standing up during a Rei scene (I hear it’s becoming a meme). Most of the people I observed were either:

Hello from space!
Posted by tsubaki | Filed under Administration

Hello, it’s been while. I do realized there’s so much dust on this site it’s enough to suffocate a kid. I do apologize for the lack of update(s). If you noticed, there are ads on ADD now because even though this site is somewhat stagnant, the amount of traffic that ADD get is enough to break Maestro’s back, so upon his request, we have ads now.
The boys over at RIUVA also roped me in as a guest contributer for Kokanaden’s Otaku Helpline thingy thing which everyone should read about.
I’m currently working on another film project, a short film that I will be directing sometime in March. I’m currently writing the 6th draft of the script and once I’ve gotten some stuff in I’ll let you guys know. There’s probably going to be a chance for you guys to cameo in my film, so stay tuned ya? Hah.
Meanwhile, merry belated xmas, new year, whatever to everyone. My bad. Really.
Oh and for no bloody reason, I’m banned again from 4chan. Like what the fuck? Someone in Singapore, who is sharing the same IP string as me needs to stop fucking uploading CP. Bastard.

Greetings from a film shoot
Posted by tsubaki | Filed under Film, Personal

Me, totally T.T-ing
I finally can breath for a bit. Hi! How is everyone? I see DarkMirage has made a new site, tj han’s still making lame nyoro comics, LianYL’s BRstick still going strong, bj0rn still hopeless in love with a girl that doesn’t know he like her and some of you people got so excited over giving roses to the girls at cosafe. If I miss anything out, that’s probably because I haven’t read your blog. Pimp the links on the comment if you want to. Oh and yesterday I got k-lined from Rizon, so I can’t get on #sganimebloggers now. Fucking netsec banned me for 4319 mins. God knows how long that is.
I’m currently now on Day 6 of my film shoot, and it’s been a crazy madcap shoot so far. Sometimes I wonder why I chose to leave my cosy computer chair where I can either watch anime all day long instead of doing anything productive, but I guess I want to make something out of this boring life we’re all given. So instead of escaping to a fantasy world, I’m creating one, albeit in a language I don’t understand.
I promised pictures from the shoot, but I only have pictures from Day 1. The past few days have been moving so fast and they are all lined up back to back with 12 hour shoots, I’ve been having as little as 0 to 3 hours worth of sleep in order to prepare for the next day’s shoot. Being the AD (Assistant Director) is difficult, especially when you are new to the industry.

Sinema Old School
Posted by tsubaki | Filed under Film
Filming started yesterday and it’s crazy due to the mad down pour. Fricking unfriendly weather, but fortunately for us it worked for the scenes we were shooting. I’ve got some pictures, but I don’t have time to upload them.
Before I make a run for my shoot now, I thought I should share with everyone about Sinema Old School. If you’re a film buff, I suggest signing up for this. I’m really excited about the prospect of a indie cinema that showcases local films and I’ve been to the the theater as well and it’s blood awesome. Free seating theater ftw.
Sinema Old School is the first sofa-styled, free-seating independent cinema for Singapore films located within the ultra hip Old School at 11 Mount Sophia. It will open its doors officially on the 12th December in conjunction with Eric Khoo’s 12 Storeys 10th anniversary celebration.
Housing a 130-seater High Definition cinema made possible by Panasonic, a film and creative merchandise retail outlet as well as studio and post facilities made possible by Apple, Sinema Old School hopes to be the homebase for Singapore filmmakers and film lovers!
Besides regular short+feature film screenings, future activities will also include technology workshops, film forums and dialogue sessions as well as gigs for local bands and musicians.
The retail store wants to be the first in Singapore to distribute and sell DVDs by Singapore Filmmakers, CDs by Singapore bands and musicians, magazines by local indie publishers, books by Singapore writers
Works can be published or unpublished (we can help publish it). It can even be self-published (a.k.a DIY!)
It will also have indie filmmaking gear and products for sale too.
Contact us if you want your works to be available for sale at our store!
Sinema Old School is also available for rental for creative and performing arts groups seeking to collaborate with filmmakers on special projects.
Venue bookings can be made via www.oldschool.sg

ADD and Tsubaki’s update
Posted by tsubaki | Filed under Personal

Firstly, I want to thank everyone for your warm feedbacks and comments regarding my short film. It’s very heartening to see it being appreciated by so many, because to honest, I didn’t think it was good. But well I guess it’s natural to only want to be better each time, since you’re only as good as your last piece of work.
Having said that, I thought I should share a little more about what’s installed for me, as well as ADD in the future.

My shortfilm: swindle
Posted by tsubaki | Filed under Personal

Alright, as promised, I’ve uploaded the short film I was working on a while ago on youtube. Basically for my school, we have to produce short films every semester which is considered as a “solo project”, where we pratically do everything ourselves. Of course, we are allowed to enlist help from others. But I prefer working alone, only getting help on certain parts that I really need help with. So yes, this film was written, produced, directed, shot and edited by myself.
I won’t say it’s teh best film, because I’ll be honest and say I intended it to be a little lame. Lol. But it’s all fun, since we really have full control over everything, as opposed to a proper film crew with assigned positions and all.
Alright, let me throw in the introduction and the whole after thought process under the cut.

2nd screening of Byousoku 5cm!
Posted by tsubaki | Filed under Anime
ZOMFG, due to popular demand, the organizers have prepared another screening of Byousoku 5cm. This time, it’s held on the 1st of December at 12.30pm. I’m happy about them rescreening it, but of all the dates, WHY ON THE DAY THAT I HAVE TO WORK? THE PAIN. THE AGONY. THE HATRED.
For those who want to watch Byousoku 5cm, I suggest you get your ass over to the e-ticketing counter now. The sale for it is now avaliable, so hurry up. Sigh, I want to watch but on the 1st of Dec I’m working as a videographer that’s going to pay me by the hundreds for just 1 day of work.

Byousoku 5 cm in Singapore
Posted by tsubaki | Filed under Anime

I apologize for the complete lack of posts lately. I’ve been extremely busy with school, as the semester draws towards the end, the assignments are piling up and the assessments are looming near. I just cleared one of the largest hurdle yesterday, where I presented my solo project film, yes that short film I was talking about. I’ll compress a youtube version soon for everyone soon, but for now, let me clear the workload.
Anyway, Animation Nation 2007 draws closer and one of the main films that I’m eyeing to watch is none other than Makoto Shinkai’s Byousoku 5 cm. I’ve never talked about Byousoku 5 cm before on ADD, but I absolutely love this animated film. This anime sits highly on the pantheon of mind-blowing animes, and as a film itself, it has also inspired my next upcoming film. I’ve actually written a rather lengthy draft on Byousoku 5 cm, but I didn’t think it was worthy enough for such a masterpiece. I’ve got a backlog of drafts on fantastic animes though. Never posted my Last Exile draft either. Do check out Crest’s (of RIUVA) review of Byousoku 5cm though, it’s a long read, but it’s bloody awesome.
Now that Byousoku 5 cm is finally coming to the big screens in Singapore, is anyone going to watch it? It’s only going to screen once on the 28th of Nov at 7pm. I’m pretty sure the experience of watching this in the theaters as compared to watching at home would justify the price tag of just SGD$6 (cheaper than watching a movie on a weekend!). I’m planning to make time to go watch it, but would definitely appreciate company (are the goons at RIUVA interested?). If we can get like 10 people, we can get a group discount and buy the tickets for SGD$5!
I’m going to bet I’ll be crying my eyes out once the credit rolls.
Edit: Okay, I just found out it’s sold out. THE HORROR.
