I’m on teh newspapers!

Posted by tsubaki | Filed under Personal

Hi people, this is perhaps the only reason why I can explain why Anime Desho Desho is dead. I’ve been grinding and levelling up in the real_world.exe as a Level 20 Kid under the apprenticeship of the famous Lvl 99 Director Eric Khoo, and this newspaper article is my report card of my labour. Tjhan has nicely announced this on RIUVA together with some artist bashing shit and I figured out it’s better to the actual article to everyone else out there who’s interested to read about it.

May I present, my real e-penis:

Yes I know, I look damn retarded and ugly here. The photographer, took like a million over pictures of me, decided to use this. He told me to do some hand gestures while I talk to an imaginary person, and this came out. I swear the next time someone tells me that, I’ll just look straight at the camera and not do anything.

At the moment, the only anime that I still religiously follow is Code Geass R2. Don’t think the community needs another CG reviewer, so I’m not writing anything about it. Also, I’m seriously considering to pull the plug on ADD and maybe join another animeblog or something as a guest writer, but ah wells. I dunno.

Greetings from a film shoot

Me, totally T.T-ing

I finally can breath for a bit. Hi! How is everyone? I see DarkMirage has made a new site, tj han’s still making lame nyoro comics, LianYL’s BRstick still going strong, bj0rn still hopeless in love with a girl that doesn’t know he like her and some of you people got so excited over giving roses to the girls at cosafe. If I miss anything out, that’s probably because I haven’t read your blog. Pimp the links on the comment if you want to. Oh and yesterday I got k-lined from Rizon, so I can’t get on #sganimebloggers now. Fucking netsec banned me for 4319 mins. God knows how long that is.

I’m currently now on Day 6 of my film shoot, and it’s been a crazy madcap shoot so far. Sometimes I wonder why I chose to leave my cosy computer chair where I can either watch anime all day long instead of doing anything productive, but I guess I want to make something out of this boring life we’re all given. So instead of escaping to a fantasy world, I’m creating one, albeit in a language I don’t understand.

I promised pictures from the shoot, but I only have pictures from Day 1. The past few days have been moving so fast and they are all lined up back to back with 12 hour shoots, I’ve been having as little as 0 to 3 hours worth of sleep in order to prepare for the next day’s shoot. Being the AD (Assistant Director) is difficult, especially when you are new to the industry.

ADD and Tsubaki’s update

konagureeeen.jpg

Firstly, I want to thank everyone for your warm feedbacks and comments regarding my short film. It’s very heartening to see it being appreciated by so many, because to honest, I didn’t think it was good. But well I guess it’s natural to only want to be better each time, since you’re only as good as your last piece of work.

Having said that, I thought I should share a little more about what’s installed for me, as well as ADD in the future.

My shortfilm: swindle

Posted by tsubaki | Filed under Personal

null

Alright, as promised, I’ve uploaded the short film I was working on a while ago on youtube. Basically for my school, we have to produce short films every semester which is considered as a “solo project”, where we pratically do everything ourselves. Of course, we are allowed to enlist help from others. But I prefer working alone, only getting help on certain parts that I really need help with. So yes, this film was written, produced, directed, shot and edited by myself.

I won’t say it’s teh best film, because I’ll be honest and say I intended it to be a little lame. Lol. But it’s all fun, since we really have full control over everything, as opposed to a proper film crew with assigned positions and all.

Alright, let me throw in the introduction and the whole after thought process under the cut.

Behind the Scenes of a Student Film Production

Posted by tsubaki | Filed under Personal

null

Sorry for the lack of updates and sudden disappearance. I’ve been busy lately shooting two short films. For my school, we have to produce 2 to 3 films a semester, mainly one that is commonly referred to as the “Solo Project”, where we have to write, direct, shoot and edit a film by our own and a “Group Project”, where it’s an actual production with designated crew roles.

Over the weekend, I was working on my Solo Project and had to miss the KALEIDOSCOPE event. =(

The Solo Project is no easy feat especially when you’re ambitious. It’s hard to do it all alone, so we usually rope in a few friends to help with certain roles, and for my case I preferred working in a small group where we can shoot and run, the typical Singapore Film-making Guerrilla shooting style. And yes, I was being rather ambitious.

Anyway, I thought it would be interesting to show you guys a little behind the scenes of how a small scale student production works.

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann DS Game

Posted by tsubaki | Filed under Game, Personal

Shit, this is made out of manly win. I CAME.

Finally a possible reason to buy a DS light! I’m still hesitant to buy it because the last two nintendo heldhelds I’ve bought were all for just 1 game and they are collecting dust now as I speak. I bought my first Gameboy light just to play Pokemon (that was many years ago when I was a kid okay) and Gameboy Advance SP for Final Fantasy Tactics Advance.

Anyway, I’m still a little behind in following Gurren Lagann. Will resume anime watching once my current workload is cleared. From now till the 8th of October, I have to be disciplined enough (which I don’t) to handle 3 ongoing projects or I’ll fail a terrible death this semester.

Hiatus.

Probably going to take a week’s break.

My dance film shoot starts next week, we’re scheduling it for a 3 day shoot. Things are going to get very busy soon, so will need to disappear for a while. Every thing’s really tight on schedule (even the budget, as usual) so yeah. Double work, and not to mention this bloody project is only worth 30% of my assessment.

No idea why we are working so hard for it, other than the fact that it will be screen at the Esplanade (big deal).

And now for that Survey thingy…

Posted by tsubaki | Filed under Editorial, Game, PSP, Personal

Yes, I know I said I would do the breakdown of the survey but…. I’ve got to finish up my bloody pitch for my solo short film tomorrow, and I’m busy transferring games from my friend’s hard disk to my newly cracked v3.52 M33 PSP and installing Medieval II:Total War, which tjhan insisted I try it many moon ago. And I rather talk about this new thing that hit the community just today.

There’s a lot of “And”s in one paragraph- my English teacher would shoot herself in her grave, but oh what the hell.

NCH’S XEDO DEFENSE: RIPPED BY THE MEDIA

ZOMFG. THE STRAITS TIMES STOLE NCH’S XEDO HOLOCAUST ANIMATION!!!1111ONEONEONE.

Watch it here. And while you are watching it, get ready for some cringe worthy crap that Stephen Sing spews. Wow, to hear him talk in person increased my disgust with him by 20 folds. Don’t see a need to address his points, other than “hay, improze teh animu deebeedee frast“.

And yes, this is an overreaction. Not as fantastic as a 4 red riot buses though.

Progress of Odex Mockumentory film: 0.0056%

I burnt my weekend telling my parents how bored I am, and then ended up arguing with them and 30 minutes later, I’m out of the house. I’m back now. Parents > Filmmaker.

And I just read the results of DarkMirage’s ODEX II survey and I am quite surprised by some of the findings. Will do a full breakdown on the statistic tomorrow or something. Need sleep now. And, something tells me we should stick this hard cold facts into Odex’s face.
