And I’m back… from the land of CHEAP Pirated anime DVDs.

And I am back from my holiday.

Wow. I never knew KL actually had trendy clothes to buy. I figured out that since there’s nothing much to buy from Malaysia, so I only brought RM250.

And boy, that was the stupidest thing ever, ranking even higher than Ray Penber telling Light his name.

After the 2nd day, I blew all my money on clothes and was reduced to singing ‘God Know… (where my money went)‘ and ‘Lost my Music(and money)‘ on the streets in order to fund my compulsive shopping habit.

Be it clothes or figurines, I can never stop buying things. I need to see a doctor.

Now Sung Gei Wang Plaza of Malaysia is like the Far East of Singapore. I am dead serious. The KL girls know how to dress up, and they are pretty much inline with Japan, Hong Kong and Taiwan’s street fashion.

I even manage to find an original ORIGINAL-FAKE boutique there, and omfg the clothes! So cheap! Okay, before I bore you none-fashionista otakus out there, I’ll stop talking about clothes and talk about their anime/figurine/thingy thing.

I saw DVDs of very recent animes with the “ORIGINAL” stickers on it going for RM19.90. I laughed. Fate/stay Night, Shuffle!, Black Lagoon were there. Heck, even incomplete series like Death Note had ep 1-6 for sale.

I didn’t bother buying to test the quality though. I bet they are fansubs.

Oh yeah, and the huge flood that occurred in Johor Baru?

I saw it, and boy it’s amazing. That was some 水龍弾の術 (Suiryūdan no Jutsu), I tell you. That shit extended my 5 hour bus ride to a 7 hour one.

Next time Zabuza, PLZ DONT TRAIN AT JB, KTHX.

I hate buses and I get bus sick easily. But looping ‘God Knows…‘ for the whole trip straight has an incredible effect-

I didn’t puke in the bus at all! Whoa!

Anyway, I’m totally beat. I am too lazy to reply to all your comments so drop whatever you need to tell or flame me, just comment here and I’ll reply.

Going through Tokyo Tosho for torrents and reading blogs I missed is a pain. Just found out that Haruhi is getting licensed, Haruhi’s fighting a war somewhere in the Middle East and Yuki’s getting the Golden Bubba touch.

Heck, my email also flooded with so mails, ranging from requests for high-res photos from EOY to asking whether I wanted my penis enlarged.

Plus the huge backlog I have sucks.

Me need sleep. Will resume insanity short. And man, I don’t know why everyone’s going gar here.

Okay, end of random post.

BRINGING ONLY RM250 TO SUNGEI WANG PLAZA!?

    ULTIMATE PHAIL. :P

  5. Zelretch |

Have you seen the update to http://www.haruhi.tv ?
    I found it amusing…

  6. Naddie |

If those DVDs come in these official-looking boxes chances are they aren’t fansubs but HK rips or something? Heck even I don’t know what it is. There are DVDs of fansubs though the cover looks less like official DVDs and more like pirated ones :P

And yes, bringing only RM250 to Sungei Wang is a folly xP

  7. umehiko |

It’ll be good if they were fansubs. They were subbed by people who didn’t even have a good grasp of english, so the translation is pretty much gibberish.

    Welcome back~!lol.

  8. jinyamato |

welcome back from you trip we miss you..lathough brining only RM250 there is too little

  9. Samejimachen |

    welcome back… tsubaka…eh….tsubaki XD

  10. RDrake |

Eh, welcome back man. Two things.

    1. Umehiko says that you might be interested in my gachapon boxes…

    2. Urban Attic is having a clearance sale. Umehiko and I took pictures. Check them out.

Having been to Malaysia myself a couple of times, and staying at a hotel near Sung Gei Wang Plaza, I can understand why your upset at yourself only bring 250 RM to Sung Gei Wang Plaza. Good on you for spending some of your money on clothes in Malasyia, as they are cheap. Clothes are more expensive at Lot 10(green building), that is opposite to Sung Gei Wang Plaza. I’m sure the traffic in Masalysia was hell, as when I went over there, one would almost get killed just crossing the road. If you stayed and watched any of the shows that occur at the bottom level of Sung Gei Wang Plaza, you will find your squashed like on the bus, but you will be surrounded by little kids. Hope you enjoyed your trip, and you will be wiser if you decided to return to Malaysia, and revisit Sung Gei Wang Plaza in the future.

@Sora You suck as a tour guide. Next time do your research, kthxbye. Lmao

@Os Ah, teh spammer you are.

    @Chicken -.-”

@Migs TOTALLY. TELL ME ABOUT IT. T.T

@Zelretch Whoa, thanks for the link. That’s damn cool.

@Naddie You’re probably right. But it says that it comes in English, Chinese and Malay subtitles. Lawl.

@umehiko Hah. Evil. ME MISS YOU!!111ONEONE

@jinyamato Yeah, way too little. But then, I’ve more money for figurines. Lolololol.

@Samejimachen Ugh. Yes yes. I know I’m a baka for bringing that little.

@RDrake I don’t think I’ll be interested in your gachapon boxes unless they are going for uber cheapness and Umehiko told me about teh sale. As soon as I sat on my computer and fired up MSN, she yelled that to me.

@Ibby But LOT10’s TOPMAN/TOPSHOP CLOTHES WERE SO FUCKING CHEAP AS WELL T.T I WAS CRYING MY EYES OFF WHEN I SAW THE PRICES. Priceless expression.

  13. madman |

uwaa..wasnt able to meet you T_T

  14. Naddie |

Lol, if there are three subs there, then beware :P Probably not the best choice for your anime needs xD

  15. sinistral |

Oh, welcome back. I have bus sickness too, and playing any music does really help preventing that. Lol.

  16. Jeremy |

Hm, I’ve been to KL plenty but never managed to find all the legendary ‘fake branded clothes’ (ie Billabong, Quiksilver, etc) which everyone talks about >_> Any idea where these shops are at?

  20. bj0rN |

  24. dKiWi |

if u’re talking abt SunComic, their dvds are NOT fansubs… I duno how they do it but the hell the quality is as good as original. Their first batch of Suzumiya Haruhi episode 00 and 2nd dvd (regular episodes 2 to 14 I think) sold out on their first, 2nd and 3rd release. I cudnt get my hands on the 2nd dvd, but I do have an episode 00. The quality is insane… the OP Bouken Desho Desho will make u drool, esp since I’m watching it on my father’s plasma. Still waiting for the 2nd dvd.

Malaysia has a very developed anime community but we can’t really tap it… since its in malay. Most of us understand English and some Japanese, but not Malay do we? XD When I went Sungei Wang 2 months back, I understood from the SunComic shop owner that Suzumiya Haruhi was going to air on local tv…

The reason why its cheap is because the English translations are total bullshit. The chinese translations are ok, but sometimes off timing. Still alot better than ordering from shops like CDJapan, 19.90 RM lehz… that’s dirt cheap for super duper high quality. Juz turn off the subtitles and walaahh… the same thing as from CDJapan.

If u dont believe me we can meet up and I can loan it for u for awhile, “original” label and all.

  25. 緋村剣心 |

^What do you mean by “the English translations are total bullshit”? o_O

  26. Chicken |

    @dKiWi : ok sure meet where ?

  27. tsubaki |

@madman Uguu. Nevermind. I’ll definitely be back again. THIS TIME WITH MOAR MONEY.

@Naddie Not that I would buy em anyway, lol. having 600Gb worth of storage just purely for fansubs has its benefit. =\

@sinistral Only God Knows… cures bus sickeness completely. Everything else fails.

    @Jeremy Aye, thank you.

@Sora Well if you come to Singapore, I won’t be as clueless as you were. Lol.

@Aerokinesis Go to Sung Gei Wang Plaza and Lot 10 for those.

@bj0rn Thank you, I sure did. Despite the tight budget I was on.

@Chicken They were probably chinese fansubs, which are usually poorly compressed.

    @LianYL Ban.

    @elohir Ah hars.

@dKiWi I’ve no idea what shop I went into anyway. Who told you that Malaysia has a very developed anime community? Because that’s the first time I’ve heard that. I’m pretty sure kurogane can’t confirm that.

  28. dKiWi |

@Chicken um im staying in for the next 2 days, email me abt where u stay and lets confirm a time.

@tsubaki I inferred that from how they managed to get licenses to the original quality dvds. Massive amount of licenses and current at that. Like 1-6 u mentioned of on-going series. I myself tot they were pirated at first, but the quality is completely different from that of pirated movies. I’m pretty blur abt the whole thing myself. I juz noe that place is a good source for anime dvds. Their local anime magazine also covers Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu quite early in 2006, while alot of ppl in sg duno what the hell it is, showing Malaysians appreciate better anime. In sg its juz bleach bleach bleach when talking abt anime offline. T_T

  29. Chicken |

@dKiwi: i think i will get it from you when you come back from (don’t know where). i’m busy this few days :(

  30. dKiWi |

Uh okok… duno how old are u but stay-in means u don’t come home from whatever deployment u are on. Coz still a bloody soldier zzzz

  31. Sora |

    Oh, come on.
    Sg isn’t as big as M’sia D:

    xD

  32. madman |

    when will that beee???T_T

  33. ZoeZoe |

Ok, there are two types of anime DVD you can find in Malaysia; the so-called original ones and the pirated ones.

Orginals ones with the “ORIGINAL” sticker and Rm19.90 slap on its box– Low quality TV rip and shiteous quality subtitles, whether in English or Chinese. The grainy resolutions makes you want to claw your eyes out and the subtitles gives you a headache. Overall, avoid at all cost. Even though its “original”.

Pirated ones, doesn’t come with any box set, but plastic covers– Good quality graphics and subtitles, but of course, most of them are taken from online sub groups. Price goes by per dvd disc. A 2-disc, 22 episode anime may only cost rm20.

For the best and utmost selection, head over to The Mines Shopping Centre if you can. I’m sure your wallet will explode from all the (pirated) titles available there.

**BTW, fuck you Singaporeans and your Sing. dollars. Us locals have to shop at TopShop with all the price converted from POund to RM. I’ll spare you the financial crap, but our rate is currently 7 to 1.

  34. LianYL |

We call what you label as “original” as bootlegs. They are still considered pirated no matter what kind of label it is given. And Isn’t RM the currency for Malaysia? So what has got to do with SGD?

  35. mrMayat |

Wow. Someone who actually appreciates high-end streetwear. I guess you frequent Ambush too, from the looks of it.
Looks like it’s time to raid KL for the good stuff…

  36. Z |

    LianYL, dude, chill!

LOL, yeah bootlegs, pirated, subs, whatever. I was only explaning the difference in quality and price between the orginal, I mean, bootleg titles and the pirated ones. If you ask me personally, I don’t give a flying crap as long as the subtitles and the resolution is good. I’m a big fan of anime, but not hardcore enough to split with my money for the original DVDs/merchandise.

And about the SGD and RM hoohaa, I was just being sacarstic; seeing that SGD is double the value of RM, shopping in Malaysia is relatively cheaper, even in highstreet fashion chains like TopShop(where prices are originally quoted in Pound/Euro).

    Merry Xmas y’all!!
