DarkMirage’s 18th Birthday Party

DarkMirage finally hits the legal age to play his eroge and watch Hahiru yesterday, and 18 other people from #SGanimebloggers turned up to celebrate it at a steamboat restaurant in Bugis.

It was another large group gathering, though not as impressive as our CounterStrike party partially due to the fact that DarkMirage was a shy kid and he didn’t want a large gathering.

Wuss. I had a hard time turning people who wanted to go down and I think my grandfathers and my future generations were cursed a number of times.

But anyway, here’s a recap of the event.

The Meeting Point
The meeting time for this party was at 7pm at Bugis MRT station. I went down earlier with tj han and Umehiko. Umehiko, my imouto-chan, was my present to DarkMirage. I got her to cosplay as Yuki as a present to that Haruhi-fanatic.

And she was drawing quite a bit of attention.

Especially from a bunch of idiotic Ah Bengs who shouted, “OEI SAILORMOON!”

I was just this close to snapping at them, but I decided against it since I didn’t have a backing of 32 otakus around with me.

FOOLS. How can ANYONE CALL YUKI, SAILORMOON? FUCK YOU NOOBS.

And to make things worst, everyone came late at we left at 7.25pm. What happened to the punctuality everyone had for the Counter Strike event?!

Steamboat for everyone!

dm18bdae2007 (5).JPG

The first screwed occurred. I made a reservation for 18 people to be seated together, but instead I was given 4 separate tables. I blame my poor Chinese for the mistake.

Apparently, this steamboat restaurant didn’t have a single staff that spoke English. They were all from Mainland China and listening to them was difficult, let alone MAKE A FRICKING RESERVATION.

I told you the language was retarded.

But everyone quickly settled into 4 groups. Thank god there wasn’t a squabble for seating, and everyone quickly got their seats and prepared to rape the buffet table.

while Mitsuki Hayase thinks raw is better

For the benefit of those who don’t know what a steamboat restaurant is, firstly it’s not on a boat, but it’s awfully steamy. Basically you get to choose a spread of uncooked food ranging from meat to seafood and you cook your own food in a pot of hot soup. You get to choose the type of soup you want.

Why it’s called “steamboat” when you don’t exactly steam food, I’ll never know.

Table lineup

Yuki punishes bj0rn for being cheeky

DarkMirage, tj han, Crest and myself sat on the first table. bj0rn, Windbell, Umehiko, Shia and Xak sat on the 2nd.

dm18bdae2007 (6).JPG
1obn mobilized to finish the restaurant’s food

KK, Hayate, MistaYoh and Zelfi took the 3rd and the 1obn raped the 4th with LianYL, Mitsuki Hayase, kwok, Analitez, Chui and Eugenics.

In the typical Chinese Wedding Banquet fashion, DarkMirage went from table to table and joined everyone like a host.

Honey and Clover taught me the importance of Niku

After awhile people started swapping places because of the different type of steamboat mix they had. My table was practically like a vegetarian and seafood table where meat was impossible to find.

Table 4 on the other hand was like a pot full of meat. The layer of oil in their soup was enough to kill a fat man.

dm18bdae2007 (10).JPG
KAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAM…

We also had a Kampai session, where we toasted to DarkMirage’s good health and scared everyone else who was eating. It seems like where ever we go we’ll leave a permanent scar on the people around us.

One of the staff actually came up to me and told me politely to lower our volume and the “KAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAM” part had to be cut short and we ended with a really pathetic “PAIIII”.

dm18bdae2007 (11).JPG
Paii? Dude where’s my car?

I still think the Chinese version of “YAAAAAAMM SEENG” is more mainly than the Japanese’s “Kampai”. At least the two beats the hell out of the silly Westerners’ “Cheers or Toast” LOL.

Evolving because of heat

dm18bdae2007 (12).JPG
Sign says: Please do not waste food.
God kills a Penguin whenever you waste food

Due to the insane heat, Yuki evolved and became Ryoko, much to the excitement of DarkMirage.

I did tell him a couple of times that he could bring Umehiko home since it was a present but he was too damn shy. Both of them were melting in the restaurant and I told them two to go out and catch some air.

I wonder whether they caught each other’s air.

GST BE DAMNED

dm18bdae2007 (13).JPG
Gangfight: Tsubaki vs tj han

My 2nd screw up as the organizer was my complete failure to remember to include the GST (Good Service Tax aka Go Squeeze Them Dry) and service tax. That pushed the total bill to $372 and I paid for all.

Just kidding. I collected $20 from everyone when were at Bugis MRT station.

But I had to cough out a little more to pay for the difference. You see, because of my inability to read chinese, I failed to read that they also charged 80 cents for the white towel per person and it’s compulsory.

AND I DIDN’T EVEN USE IT. WTF.

Luckily for me, Shia and tj han came to my rescue and fork out a little cash.

The trademark group photo

KANCHO-ED!

Whenever there is Windbell, there would be a DSLR and a Tripod.

And whenever that happens, there would always be a group photo much to the demise of DarkMirage who hates taking pictures. We took 4 shots and the 3rd one had DarkMirage getting Kancho-ed by the resident anal expert, Analitez.

ZOMFG ORIENTATION CAMP ON STATELAND?

dm18bdae2007 (17).JPG

Everyone was super bloated after the heavy dinner and we still have yet to proceed with the cake cutting celebrations.

We went across the road where there was a Private State land property that warned us to enter at our own risk. We figured out that nothing could be more risky than eating tj han’s cake so we settled down in a circle and played a game.

I can’t remember whose idea this was, but it was definitely not mine.

We got everyone to sing an improvised version of a birthday song to DarkMirage each and the catch was that it had to be from an anime tune. It was a complete blast because we all sucked at singing and thus it turned out really funny.

I can only remember a couple of tunes- tj han sang to the tune of God knows, bj0rn and Windbell duet Ichigo Complete, Xak did a pretty good version of Houki Boshi and I did a funeral version by singing Last Regrets.

Happy 18th Birthday!

dm18bdae2007 (18).JPG

After painfully tormenting DarkMirage with 18 weird birthday songs, we finally took out the cake that tj baked.

According to tj han, he said that cooking is like mixing chemical. He told me that it would be easy and I trusted him to bake it. Never did I realize it was his first time doing so.

And he produced a chocolate cake entitled THE DARK MIRAGE.

Whether or not it was tasty, I leave it to the people who ate it to comment on it. I personally think it was edible, though it was a little sweet. It was also dry, and it felt more like a brownie than a cake.

So basically if tj han told us he baked a brownie cake, he would have scored full marks.

dm18bdae2007 (20).JPG

For DarkMirage’s birthday song, we all scrapped the usual “Happy Birthday” song and sang FLOW’s COLOR instead. Apparently everyone missed the old OP of Code Geass and felt that it was nessary to sing it on his birthday instead.

dm18bdae2007 (19).JPG

The candle we got for DarkMirage symbolizes his real age- 41 years old.

tj han and I thought it was really funny to get that huge white candle, until someone told us that it was a bad choice because it’s actually used for funerals. Damn. We didn’t know that.

dm18bdae2007 (21).JPG

DarkMirage made a very long wish and then blew the candles.

The cake was later then raped by a knife so big, you could have sworn the cake was made out of rock. We all ate the cake and died of sugar poisoning.

Lesson learnt: When someone tells you that baking a cake is as easy and mixing chemicals, slap him.

The big poster give away and the concluding end

dm18bdae2007 (24).JPG

Remember the posters that tj han wanted to give away?

He gave those out after the party and everyone mobbed him to death for those posters. I managed to get the Ouran High poster of Haruhi in a kimono. Thank god. Muhahahah.

And after that, everyone dispersed.

Some went to the arcade at the basement Bugis Junction, some to Cosafe and the rest went home. DARKMIRAGE AND UMEHIKO WENT TO THE ARCADE TOGETHER. TEE HEE HEE.

I went to Cosafe with tj han and Windbell where we joined Mitsuki Hayase and Chui who went there earlier.

We also bumped into the ultimate ero-jiji blogger, Zer0.

Now Zer0, looks nothing like the typical ero-jiji. In fact, he’s quite good looking and is well built. But he told me not to judge him by his looks, but rather his shadow. A very interesting fellow.

And that’s about it.

Photos taken by Windbell. The ugly ones were shot by LianYL.
