Lucky ☆ supercalifragilisticexpialidocious ☆ Star
Posted by tsubaki | Filed under Anime

When I first watched Lucky☆Star, I thought it was the damn good. The sheer randomness of the anime and the conversations between its characters totally blows me away. Aya-sama’s role as Konata Izumi is pure love. The OP is awesome. The ED makes me hardgay. The Lucky Channel intermission killed my laughing bone.
And I’ve already said everything I need for my supposedly supercalifragilisticexpialidocious entry! What’s there left to talk about this? Plenty!

Firstly, the random banters between the girls. If you think the whole randomness stupid, pointless and a waste of your time, think again. You’re not wrong. You need to be very intuned with your otaku side to appreciate the delivery of this anime. So turn on OTA-MODE and enjoy it!
Now I personally found the whole food part to be ridiculously entertaining. The longer it got, the funnier it became. It’s like the situations where it’s not supposed to be funny but everyone’s laughing about it anyway. And not to mention that I actually do have such random conversations with my friends as well.
Just a few days ago, I was having a really entertaining but pointless conversation with 2 other friends about our eating habits. This whole whole food discussion just naturally came while we were having lunch at this really good Laksa eating house in Yishun. Lucky Star did not anyway influence this whole randomness since my friends don’t watch animes.
Thinking about it made me realized how real Lucky Star was. LOL.
Lucky Channel rocks of course. OHAIYOU RAKI~ Click on the video above to watch it over and over again! No further explanation needed other than the fact that I swear Akira a part time dual gun totting pirate working for the Black Lagoon company.
Akira is so sickening sweet she’s a complete blast when she goes Revy on everyone after that. Someone give that bitch a gun! AKIRA SAMISHI~
I really really love the OP. It’s just so fun and addictive to listen to. The more I looped it, the more addictive it got. The speed at how they are singing just demands that I jump into a cheerleader suit and follow. LOL. I jest, but honestly, I don’t see myself getting tired of this song anytime soon. I’m dying for the OP single to get released though, so I can rip a high quality mp3 for my mobile phone’s ringtone.
Oh and people have begun dancing to it on youtube already!

Konata is damn funny. Her random comments are just superb. Her voice is love. I wonder why =x But perhaps the most appealing factor about Konata is that she’s a full-blown female otaku, minus the lard tube. Yay! She also plays MMORPGs! Plus later on we’ll get to see her working part-time in a Meido Cafe! Wooooo.
Oh and it’s really coincidental, but both Konata and Hirano Aya have a mole on their left cheek. MOEEEEE.

Miyuki is damn cute. MOE MOE MOE MOE. Meganekko chicks FTW! Need moar of her interacting with Konata.
As for the rest of the girls, they need more screen time. Okay, need to get back to work. Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah. Just 1 more week to go, and freedom is mine again.

The first episode wasn’t really that fantastic in my eyes, but I did love the video game references, as it brings back memories of too much time wasted on FFXI (I’ve also quested to restore the light to the crystals that have been stolen by some evil fiend…). Second episode looks to be filled with tons of anime and video game references though, which makes me happy and giddy. I love shows where you could point all all sorts of random trivia.
Well, in the second ep, I saw Keroro, Galaxy Angel(I think), heard Haruhi(I went, like, OMG!), Getter Robo, Shuffle!..That’s about it. Oh and I noticed Minoru around 5:58;; Now I’m off to watch Nanoha ep3
whoa, readin ure blog was like a runthrough of exactly wat i was thinkin as the episode went on. i shud read ure blog more often @@
Yay! Another person who knows how funny it actually is!
Female otaku FTW!
MOE MOE MOE! Miyuki if freaking cute..dangerous moe elements =X
Hey Tsubaki,
Which laska store u talking about? I live in Yishun,so i may know which one you are talking about if u state it more specifically.
Anyway,my comment’s kinda random since everyone’s ranting about how great Lucky Star is while I’m asking you about the laksa store
konata plays eroge even when she isn’t at the age…i wonder did aya do that?( in order for aya to play the role of female otaku, i firmyl believed she must have done lots of research..)
lucky channel is lol………telling the side of her regarding her pay is absolutely lol…*she cant do that..
I assume it’s the one behind t3h Yishun Bus Interchange right? That small area directly opposite t3h escalator.
The mole is to me is what give her the moe factor
I think it’s the damn good, too. :3
Konata is made of chocolate rolls and win.

I lol’d hard
I never get tired of Akira’s “OHA~ LUCKY!” catchphrase, even to this current day. If it were up to me, I’d just switch the entire show over to the Lucky Channel segment though, but that’s just because I’m an Akira freak.
And after browsing through MAD after MAD of the Lucky Star opening, I think it’ll truly beat out GA-Rune for most parodied opening. Kind of a bummer.
episode 2 made me laughed hard..I’m getting april sickness too…T.T…*recent animes made me laughed hard, so hard that my sleeping parents scold me..lol..
ask them to join or at least your sister or brother :P
Watched episode 2, laughed harder.
Lucky star is my new watch each episode multiple times series :D. Few series can make me do that (school rumble is one of them).
@double Lowell got it right, that fricking stalker. It’s the one behind the interchange.
I liked the second episode more than the first. The whole food thing was kind of boring to me in the first episode. I love the opening theme song though and Konata is my favorite character. She’s probably more otaku than I am.
I just watched the first episode yesterday or was it the day before… Boy it didn’t make me laugh till my ballz dropped off, but it managed to get me hooked and I still enjoyed it… Boy I hope the next episode of lucky star I’ll be downloading would be just as fun to watch looking forward to it!, but that’s after finishing off episode 22 and 23 of code geass XD
Leave it to a Haruhi themed blog to sing total praise of Lucky Star. One nitpick, Lucky Channel can’t be an intermession if it comes at the end of the show. Oh and the food talking thing seems to be a reference to Moe shows that tend to use food as major plot point in getting to know the characters (Kanon), when really its just superficial, long and pointless. A lot of the jokes are actually poking fun at Otaku, which suprisingly enough requires you to be an otaku to get the joke. I’m not sure if that’s something worthy of praise or just a sad truth. Still funny though, when they do it.
yesssssssssssssss im loving it. Gota love your reviews to, i know what anime to watch nowadays awww =^_^=
damn cute man, i’m loving the part where they talked about the yakitori and was like saving it for the last bit and then some waiter comes and takes the plate away and then she’s like saying “ah… wait I’m not done with it yet”. That’s just amazing XD
Damn Konata is just so funny. See her pwn some punk’s ass in a game of ‘virtual fighter’ is priceless.
[...] Anime Desho Desho: panned badly, Bridge Bunnies lifted a bunch of quotes from others, got confused, Wonderduck: confused as well, Brickmuppet: Shrill Lolis, Karoshi: very positive, Kono Sono: not very coherent or articulate, BigN: somewhat positive. [...]
This anime series was really pritty disappointing i watch episode 1 and stopped there as did not like it very much at all.
Didn’t make me larf at all and it all resolved around hare they eat there fiid in ep 1 wow hare great man what a let down this is i suggest you give this a miss.
Music.
the music at beginning is ok but got to admit the vid that went with it had me gob smacked it was crazy. 6/10
Pic/animation.
The picture is just average really the girls didn’t look like high schooner’s at all looked younger but it did give of a cute vibe to it thoe. 5/10
Plot.
There is no plot as far as I could tell at all its go school talk to friends and thats it. 1/10
all in all ill give this anime a = 3/10.
and thats me being nice at least for hare is at this time with episode 3 out.
I’ll have to say, despite first reading about the negative comments on blogs about Lucky Star, when I watched it I actually found it pretty funny. I could be biased as a Haruhi + Aya fan.
Anyway episode 1 was quite good, though pretty pointless if you were expecting some plot developments. But that’s how it is, Lucky Star is that kind of anime. I like how they talk about the mundane stuff about food. I don’t know why ;)
I’m up to episode 5 right now and I must say episode 5 is one of the best – watching Konata actually chat in the MMORPG really helps (ex-World of Warcraft addict here). “I’m gonna pull one.” “lololololo.”
Who is your favuorite peoson in this anime?
I only recently found this show by accident. I found the “(Bleep) D” parody scene to be very amusing. So far though, I must say that it, like many of the shows made my Kyoto Animation, has been nothing short of a humorous masterpiece to behold. The mega otaku chick, the moe with the pink hair and sunny disposition, and the polar opposite twins are an interesting balance of what makes a good slice of life comedy. The references to other shows and gaming is also a nice touch. Over all, if I had to rate what I’ve seen, it would get marks that would put most anything else to shame.
