Achieving those legs for Zettai Ryouiki

Oh yes, we certainly do.

Having defined the different Grades of Zettai Ryouiki, one of the common issue that everyone has was the problem with thunder thighs- huge unsightly elephant legs. Is that the end of the world? Of course not. Here at ADD, we consult Joe Dowdell, a personal trainer for some of Victoria Secret’s models and Sports Illustrated swimsuit stars and he teaches us the secret of achieving the perfect legs for ZR.

But if you really want to follow it, keep in mind that you must be willing to work hard and see it through. With effort, comes the payoff. Having said that, if you are ready to slap those silly legs yours into shape, click on to read the secret jutsu to killer legs.

Split Squat

Sometimes known as a stationary lunge, the split squat can be adapted to several fitness levels. Keeping your rear leg lifted makes it more of a workout for your quadriceps.

1. Stand with feet staggered, about 2 feet apart, toes pointing forward with right foot forward and left foot back. Keep torso upright, shoulders down, and arms at sides.

2. Bend both knees 90 degrees, keeping right knee aligned over right ankle and left heel pointing behind you. Hold 1 to 2 counts, and come back to starting position; repeat. Do all reps on right leg; switch sides and repeat.

3. For an advanced variation, place top of left foot on a low chair or bench behind you, and hold dumbbells with arms at sides. For an even greater challenge, use a stability ball instead of a chair or bench (weights optional).

Hip Bridge

The hip bridge hits your glutes, hamstrings and erector spinae, or lower-back muscles. To work the outer and inner thigh at the same time, try adding different props or tools, including a medicine ball and a resistance band.

1. Lie faceup on the floor with knees bent, feet flat on the floor about 1 foot in front of butt. Place hands on floor, palms down. Squeezing glutes, slowly lift hips, forming a straight line from knees to waist (be careful not to overarch spine). Hold 2 counts, continuing to squeeze glutes; lower back to floor and repeat.

2. To work inner thighs, hold a medicine ball or similar-size ball (for examples a soccer ball or basketball) between thighs, and squeeze legs together while lifting hips.

3. To work outer hip and thighs, tie a resistance band around thighs, and press out while lifting hips.

4. For an advanced variation, extend right leg, keeping it raised while lifting and lowering hips; switch legs halfway through the set.

Also, Pilates is extremely good for achieving high grade ZR legs. I highly recommend them for girls who want to bring it to the next level. Remember, not every exercise is good for toning the legs. Some will result in making them muscular, at that would pretty much defeat the Zettai Ryouiki leg.

Having said that, diet is also an important factor. The fastest way to reduce weight is to cut down on your carbohydrate in-take, and drink plenty of water and sufficient sleep. During my holiday, I followed a strict low-carbo diet, and loaded up myself with plenty of water. I usually finish 3 or 4 large tumbler of water. To remind yourself to drink, put a jug beside your computer. You’ll automatically drink water after you get bored or thirsty. So for the whole of my non-working holiday, I stayed at home, played Granado Espada the whole day while drinking plenty of water.

Less than 1 months later, I lost 10kg. Without exercising at all. Without pills or injections. Without going on crash diets.

Imagine how much more I would have lost if I converted those gaming time into exercise time. The beauty about this diet is that you can still pretty much eat anything you like, except for carbo-rich food. The human body burns carbohydrate in the body for energy. When you are low on carbo, it will then turn to your fats and burn it for energy. And fats burns 3 times more than carbo in order to produce the same amount of energy.

I cannot confirm that whatever I have said 100% scientific, but it’s pretty much what I know and have done it before, so it works, and that’s more important.

    Not true, in fact its the other way around. 3g of carb = 1g of fat for the same amount of energy.

    Nothing beats the ‘gamer’ diet if you wanna lose weight. Tested and proven. Although it leaves you looking pretty pale and sickly.

    lol…zettai ryouiki is more or less non-existent in Singapore…one MOE scholar from overseas[O.o...does MOE know who they are importing...???] I knew do them ones in a while; Really nice legs.

    And as a faithful biology-taking girl/otaku-to-be, I shall disseminate the following info…

    For biology O levels [or A levels depending on what your school believes in] you need to know:
    1. Carbo and fats don’t burn. They get metabolised.
    2. Lipids [that's fats for you] gives 37kj/g, carbohydrates [sugars, starch] gives 17kj/g.
    3. As a side note, if u’re interested in the original low-carb diet, google ‘Adkins Diet’.
