REQUEST: Photos for ADD’s The Otaku’s Room event

Ah well, I apologise for my previous entry that sounded awfully elitist. Do keep in mind that the targeted group which I was bitching about are the locals in my country (of course tjhan, drm, stripey, kwok and a few others are the cooler bunch).

The bottom line is- My country is filled with people who are not open to shoujo-ai or anything homosexual. Therefore, allowing those kind of people to watch a yuri-centric anime like Mai-HiME will only lead to ignorant bashing from the said group. And not forgetting that I’m a mad Mai-HiME fanboy. So thus, my rather hasty and poorly written post that incidentally hurted a few others.

So anyway, I’m planning to organize a special photography event for all anime bloggers and readers alike to participate.

The theme of this photography event would be “The Otaku’s Room”

I’ll have to re-arrange some stuff here, this won’t be my final picture.

Basically, I want you to take pictures of your anime shrine- be it a small section of your room or your entire room. Pictures of your figurine collections, manga collections, posters, etc etc. If your room as messy as a hikikomori’s room, even better. Even if you only have just a small collection, it doesn’t matter. If you have kept all your figures in a box, take them all out for a group photo. Even if you want to take pictures of your computers, your tech toys together with your anime stuff, go ahead.

I just want as many of these pictures as possible to compile them into a nice little photo collage. If your collection is too big for one picture to fit in, feel free to take as many as you wish.

You may send those pictures to written.by.nic at gmail dot com (please put “The Otaku’s Room” as your subject) or post them on your blog and leave a comment here, so that I can hop over to grab those pictures.

I will compile all of these pictures at a later date (TBC) and release them in a special gallery for everyone to check it out. I hope that everyone in the anime community can spread this news for me to make this special event a success.

So start preparing your rooms and whipping out your cameras! And don’t forget to spread the news!

My room eh? It’s not a pretty site. It’s in fact very very similar to Yamazaki’s and Satou’s rooms in NHK. Satou’s messiness plus Yamazaki’s merchandise.

Unfortunately, since I’m in U, my collection back in Malacca is pretty much only for my mind to remember.

Not to mention half my gunpla collection from as far back I could remember got thrown away because my father think I shouldn’t keep ‘toys’ anymore. Jerks.

The only things I have left is 5 cupboards of manga, equally divided in original japanese tankoubons, cheap Malaysian originals with suck-ass tls, and some Americanized mangas by Viz. And one cupboard of animes. And a small hidden compartment where I keep my secretly bought resins/PVCs/mini-figurines.

My table is relatively free of anime merch and the like.

I tend to show as little of my otakuness as possible. No one likes a cartoon-obssessed freak.

The problem is I can’t, not until my exams are over and I can drive back home. Which is another 3 weeks. ;(

And your post of your narutarazation pretty much applies here as well, only worse. Here, liking anything not named Bleach and Naruto means you’re not cool. We’re neighbours after all.

Meh, I have a camera, but no figures or anything anime reated yet. Once I get a job I will go and buy a lot of anime related stuff, but until then, nope. If I did have money, my room would be full with anime based stuff, and most of it would end up being Shana related.

I was planning on taking some pics of my room anyway because im moving out for college in a few weeks. So if i ever get around to it ill be sure to get the pics to you!

But it might be a week or so until i get any, or maybe a day or two, so im really not sure lol. But if i do i hope they are useful to your project.

I just started my blog and its in the review queue at Nano, so im not sure if you count me as part of the ‘community’ yet, but im sure its fine right? lol. Well if it is, ill be sending the pics as soon as i can.

Albeit, i probably wont have any of my anime/manga collection, most will be of my desk and walls probably, is that alright?
